2022 rookie wide receiver ranking Week 4: A relatively quiet week for these pass catchers

Last season we did our weekly rookie quarterback tracker, but with only one taken in the first round of 2022, we’ve moved onto another highly coveted position. For 2022, we’ll keep track of all six first-round wide receivers and their progress throughout the year. Some of our first-round rookies are already off to the races and contributing heavily to their teams. One exception on the list for at least another couple of weeks is Detroit Lions first-round pick Jameson Williams, from Alabama. Williams tore his ACL in last year’s National Championship game but is on track to make his debut for the Lions this season. Let’s check out this year’s group of rookie first-rounders. Jameson Williams – Lions (out with torn ACL) source: Getty Images With Week 4 officially in the books, Jameson Williams becomes eligible to practice with the team and be removed from the non-football injury list. His injury occurred in college, not the NFL, so it falls under that category. Williams likely won’t be hitting the field for a bit longer, but he has been running for a couple of weeks, and now he’ll be able to participate with the team once he’s ready. So, hang in there, Detroit. Williams’ debut is coming soon. 5. Treylon Burks – Titans source: Getty Images This win was about Tennessee getting Derrick Henry rolling, and roll is exactly what he did. Henry rolled all over the Colts to the tune of 114 yards on the ground. Ryan Tannehill played efficiently and passed for two TDs with no INTs. Neither of those forays into the end zone included Treylon Burks, as he had a relatively quiet afternoon catching two passes for 14 yards. It’s always good to get the win, but as a first-round pick, you also want to ball as much as possible. 4. Drake London – Falcons source: Getty Images While the Falcons won to improve their record to 2-2, Drake London played a minor role, although he was targeted the most by Marcus Mariota. London caught just two of his seven targets and gained 17 yards. Not an impressive outing by any means, but there’s always next week. Speaking of next week, the Falcons travel to Tampa Bay to face one of the better defenses in the NFL. Week 5 might feel like déjà vu against the Buccaneers for London. 3. Garrett Wilson – Jets source: Getty Images The Jets are 2-2 after beating the Steelers, 24-20, in Zach Wilson’s season debut. Garrett Wilson probably wasn’t too happy as he didn’t see as much action as he would’ve liked, catching two passes for 41 yards, although he was targeted six times. Wilson thrived the first few weeks of the season with Joe Flacco under center, throwing the ball all over the field. The Jets’ offensive game plan will probably continue to be much more conservative with Zach Wilson back in the saddle. 2. Jahan Dotson – Commanders source: Getty Images Nobody on the Washington side had a good Sunday getting beat down by Dallas, 25-10. Dotson did what he could, catching three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. The real story is the fan frustration and some calling for Carson Wentz to be benched. But after completing less than 60 percent of his passes, throwing two interceptions, and the Commanders losing their third straight, that was bound to happen. Despite all the turmoil in Washington, Dotson always seems to find a way to get in the end zone. A third of Dotson’s catches on the season have been TDs. This kid knows how to score. It’s just too bad his QB can’t get him the rock more often. 1. Chris Olave – Saints source: Getty Images The Saints lost again — this time in London — but it was a pretty good day for Chris Olave. Not only did he have the best day of our rookies on this list, but he also led the Saints in receiving with four catches, 67 yards, and a TD. Andy Dalton got the start in place of Jameis Winston, who’s dealing with a back injury. Dalton is no stranger to the QB1 role, but at this point, he’s been a backup for the past few years. Olave looks like he’s cemented himself as a certifiable threat in this Saints passing game, and hopefully, he’ll have Winston back in the lineup to get him the ball downfield soon.
